YouTube conducts experiments with its layout and functionality every now and then. But an average user only notices the updates to its design and not the under the hood updates which makes YouTube better and faster. But nowadays YouTube is experimenting something which everyone will fall in love with, a feature that allows you to block the ads on YouTube officially, by just changing a cookie stored in your browser.

After changing the cookie, the ads on the YouTube’s homepage, inside the YouTube player, in the right pane and the ads in the search results will disappear. It also adds channel cards, a feature which shows information about the channel when you hover over a channel’s name.

Changing the Cookie

1. Open YouTube in your browser.
2. Open “Developer Console”. This can be done by pressing keyboard shortcuts. These are browser specific, see below for your browser.
   1. Google Chrome: Hit the “Ctrl+Shift+J” key combination.
   2. Mozilla Firefox: Hit the “Ctrl+Shift+K” key combination.
   3. Opera: Hit the “Ctrl+Shift+J” key combination.
   4. Internet Explorer: Hit the “F12” key and then press the “Ctrl+2” key combination.
   5. Apple Safari: Hit the “Ctrl+Alt+I” key combination. This will open “Developer Menu” at the bottom of the browser. Now press the “Esc” key to open the Console window.
   NOTE The “Developer Menu” will only open if you have checked the “Show Developer menu in menu bar” check box in the “Preferences > Advanced tab”.
   
   
   
3. Now, paste the below given code in the “Console” window.

4. Hit the “Enter” key.

This will reload the YouTube page, free of any ads whatsoever.

To enable the ads again, either remove the YouTube cookies entirely or run the below code in the “Console” window.

NOTE YouTube can stop this experiment anytime they want. Therefore, below are many other ways we can block ads on YouTube.

Easily Zoom Facebook Photos On Mouse Hover

Facebook recently changed its Photo Viewing Layout, but as usual most of the people will not like it. So, FB Photo Zoom is a nice Chrome extension that will let you see Facebook photos without any click. You just need to mouse over any photo and you will see an enlarged version of the image in the same window. One more nice thing about this extension is that you will not see any comments or likes and the main focus will only be on the image.

A live preview of the extension at work. You will not see the mouse icon, as while taking screen shots the mouse icon gets hidden.

The button on the left of the chat bar allows you to enable/disable the FB Photo Zoom easily. The application also has a settings menu which can be used to alter the extension’s settings. I prefer not to alter these settings.

Download Facebook Videos without any software or plugin

I read many tutorials to download Facebook videos. Most of them talked about plugins, but most of them either failed to work or were not available for download now. Then I finally found a way by which I could download Facebook videos and that too without installing any third-party software or plugin and even not using any third-party website.

Download Facebook Videos

1. Open any video on Facebook. Let the URL change in the browser’s address bar. Typically, it would look like “https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=530450063674734&set=vb.514572458595828&type=2&theater“






2. Just change the “www” to “m“. Then the URL will look like “https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?v=530450063674734&set=vb.514572458595828&type=2&theater“. Changing this will open the Facebook mobile website.
3. Now, your video will look something like below.





4. Just start the video and right-click on it.





5. You will get an option titled “Save video as…“, click on it and save your file with any name you want.

NOTE This trick was tested on Google Chrome and it worked perfectly fine on the latest version. It may/may not work on other browsers.

UPDATE Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer users need to use the Facebook mobile website, and then open the video to download it using right-click menu.

How to Remove Your Middle and Last Name from Facebook

Facebook is the most used Social network ever. Almost everybody has a Facebook account. In fact one can get loads of information about somebody from their Facebook account. When it comes to privacy, Facebook might not be the best platform. As it is said that there are all kinds of workaround for everything, therefore there is a workaround for removing the middle name and last name from your Facebook profile as well.

In order to create a Facebook account the user has to pass through various security checks, this is because Facebook does not want any scam or fake profile. To ensure this, one of the measures which Facebook takes into consideration is that it does not allows anybody to miss out the last name. Hence one cannot create his/her profile only by first name and middle name, it is mandatory to fill out your last name as well

But guys at Wildhacker found out how to bypass this. See the steps below if you want to hide your last name from your Facebook profile, and believe me it’s quite simple.

Remove Your Last Name from Facebook :

1. If you have Mozilla Firefox installed then run it, else download it.

2. Now go to http://www.hidemyass.com/proxy-list/

3. Search for a proxy in “Indonesia” with Port no. “8080″ and all other settings as sown in figure below. (Click to see an enlarged image).

4. Now make note of the first IP address.

5. Now go to  Firefox > Options > Options.

6. Now select  Advanced > Network > Settings…

7. Select Manual proxy configuration and enter the proxy you noted in step(4) in HTTP Proxy field and 8080 in Port. Also mark “Use this proxy server for all protocols”. Type the same IP address in the “No Proxy” box and press ok.

8. Now login to your Facebook account, go to account settings and change the language to
Bahasa Indonesia. Now try to remove your last name and see the magic. Facebook allows you to save your name without the last name.

9. Now change the language back to whatever you want.

P.S. This trick is for those people those who need to hide their last name, this can be due to any reason like security or any other. But anyone can remove the last name and show that they can do it and their friends can’t
