I just figured out how to format a pen drive on a Mac. I hope this will be of help to all the newbies with Mac. 

1. Plug the USB drive into the Mac. Avoid plugging it into a USB hub or the USB port on a Mac keyboard.

2. Open the Drive Utility software. This is located in the Utilities folder, inside the Applications folder, on the top level of your hard drive. This software was installed as part of the Macintosh OS.

3. Select the drive in the list on the left-hand side of the window and highlight it. In the name field, enter your chosen name for the pen drive.

4. Select the "Erase" tab in Disk Utility, making sure the flash drive is selected in the list on the left-hand side of the window.

5. Choose the desired format that you want the pen drive to have. If you're planning to use it between computers with different platforms, then select MS-DOS (Fat), which will allow it to be read by both Windows and Macintosh computers. If you're planning only using for Macs, then select Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

6. Click on the "Erase..." button. Remember, this will destroy all the data on the pen drive, so back up any data you want to save before getting to this point.


7 Eject the pen drive, either by dragging it into the trash, or using the eject button (the triangle icon) in the finder window.

Screen Capturing Made Easy With ShareX

When you try to capture a screenshot with the print screen button of your keyboard you leave some important details like cursor, text flash etc. To resolve this problem we have a great tool called ShareX for Windows. It is a freeware utility. This tool is not only used for taking screenshots but can also be deployed for uploading files at different destinations. The left Menu Bar

The application has a menu bar situated at the extreme left of the program. All the important options it has are discussed below.

1. File upload

It enables you to upload any image to the cloud. By default it saves the uploaded files at “Imgur” image hosting website.

2. Capture

You can take a screenshot by simply clicking on this option. It is stuffed with loads of options to choose from. You can take screenshots of the entire screen or only of a particular application. You can also use the screen recording option which will result in either a video file or animated GIFs. 5. Destination

Upload Files To Dropbox Using Email

Possibilities with Dropbox are endless, every now and then I get to read more and more amazing things done with the help of Dropbox. This is only possible because of its free and seamless file synchronization. One nice trick I recently came across is uploading files to Dropbox via emails. You only need to attach files to an email and send it to a particular email address with a hashtag. For this we will use a third-party service called If This Then That (IFTTT).

IFTTT is a free web service that enables you to connect different applications like Dropbox, Facebook, Evernote, Linkedin, etc and work with them on “if this then that” basis. It supports 75 web applications and cover all the popular ones. The “this” in the “If This Then That” is called the trigger which is the condition that need to be fulfilled, and “that” is the action that will be completed.

Upload Files To Dropbox Using Email

1. First Join IFTTT with your Email address.
2. Now visit this link to create a new IFTTT recipe.
3. Now you will be guided through the IFTTT’s recipe creation process. First click the “this” link.



4. Now click the Email icon. Then you will have the options to choose the trigger. Select the “Send IFTTT an email tagged” option.



5. You have to define the hashtag that the trigger (email) will contain. You can choose any hashtag, but for simplicity, we are choosing #dropbox. After that click the “Create Trigger” button.



6. Now you have set-up the trigger, and its time to set-up the action. Click the “that” link.



7. Now select Dropbox as the channel, as you want to upload files to Dropbox.



8. Now you have to activate and authorize Dropbox. This is done because it needs file uploading rights.
9. After authorizing you need to select the action. You have three options here. Choose the first one – Add file from URL.






10. Now there are certain action fields for you to fill. As they are prefilled with our preferences, so leave them as they are and click the “Create Action” button.



11. Now IFTTT will show you a summary of your recipe. Click “Create Recipe” to finalize the recipe creation process.

Your recipe is created now. You can start sending emails with your attached files and with the hashtag “#dropbox” (or whatever you named it) to “trigger@ifttt.com“. The attachments will be uploaded to Dropbox within seconds after the mail is sent.

TIP You can also paste URL of a resource residing on the web to upload it to Dropbox. For that you need to add some ingredients to your recipe, and it should look like below.

Alternate Method – Using Mail Attachment Downloader

This method will upload all the attachments that you receive on your email account to Dropbox, but it requires them to be downloaded to your computer first. Don’t worry, the process is completely automatic.

1. Download and set-up Mail Attachment Downloader. This article will teach you how to do that.
2. In the Save location field of the application, select any folder inside the Dropbox folder. You can create a new one to keep your Dropbox folder tidy.
3. Now from the options menu, select the application to run at startup. This will make sure that all your attachments are downloaded (to your computer) and uploaded (to Dropbox) regularly and you always have all the files at your disposal.
